TUG OF DREAMS

Tug of Dreams

A clear sky, calm and endless

The sun bidding a sweet goodbye

Spreading its deep orange hue

Across the hustling leaves

Trees slowly shaking hands

As the bleaky breeze blows

Birds creating patterns in the sky

With sweet music waving out,

The white terrace spreads vast

With gloomy black spots and dots

And on a corner, sits she, hushed

Her thoughts creating patterns

In a deep ocean, ocean of hope

Endless but swift, slowly

Imitating those sweet throated birds

A faint music glides along her mind

Her swift thoughts, being the lyric

And her dreams being the rhythm

Dreams, entangled in a cage of

Dependence, resembling her

Curls, twisted and bound within

A pale hair bun, a trap, a cage.

Her thoughts, giving birth to

Daydreams, infinite and soulful.

Filled with colours, bright and

Light shades of fantasy, glittering;

Alas! Amidst this glaze of dreams,

Faces fade in and out, rapidly

Within the filmy gloss of memory

Faces - insults, bruises, scars

Crooked eyes, wicked tones.

A sudden halt; hurling stones

At the wretched memory, she

Fled, fled back to her dreams

The rhythm resuming, and

Patterns recreating themselves

A voyage with a dreamy rhythm

She's now on a rollercoaster

Of thoughts, into oblivion she

Fell, forgetful of her alarming

Reality; her deceased brother,

Debts, struggles, pain in the legs

Her weary mother, meek and plain

Her fighting father, the whole, fading

Away into oblivion, with she being in

The pedestal of her dewy dreams.

Independent is she, for the world's

Open, free to be explored; though

Dependent on the clutches of reality

Away she went, far away, absent

In reality, her comfort zone

Being her dreams, though with

Patched colours; her refuge being

Her thoughts, infinite and vibrant.

Now, a sudden throbbing is heard

Nothing but the tolling of the

Church bells, as rhythmic as

Her thoughts, and as hard as

Her existence; awaking from

Her dreams, she stood up

With heads high, daring to face

The enervating reality below;

And ahead she moves, gloomily,

For with a flip, her mind slipped

From ecstasy to gloom, unduly.

A flip side of life is this, for light

And darkness abounds in each

Flip of this book of life.

Do you know her? Neither me,

Nor you, but, a semblance strikes

Among us, for we're in a treasure

Hunt, constantly wavering between

Our gruelling reality and our alluring

Dreams; falling and getting up

Both engaged in a tug of war.

Listen! To the referee's reminder

"Your dreams are not unworthy

For you're not unworthy"

A faith in her dreams, glows

On her gloomy face, screaming

Loud, that she's now in a voyage

Through the dread of reality

To chase her dreams;

Dreams, which seem 'impossible'.

This tug of war is a test of

Endurance, and so is life.

Proceed, run amidst the trials, clasp

Your 'unworthy dream' and defeat

The reality, with your dreams in

Your grasp, prove over and over again

That your dreams are worthy, for

You decide your destination.
