Regret
Regret
It's a bitter feeling
A throb which bears no repose
A groan which never stills
For its source can never
Be undone.
The source being your error
Your sin, that ominous deed
Of yours which casted the
Shadow of excruciating
Regret, which never ends.
Regret is the mother of pain
A peculiar pain, leaving
No solution, but a whole
Vacuum of reconciling
Hope that disappoints.
'Sorry' is not just a word
But a shell which shuts
Your ego, a shell wherein that
Ego metamorphoses into
Regret, slowly but with restraint.
And this regret is ambiguous
For it vexes your own self
Troubles your mind
Either it converts you into
A child who learned its lesson
Or to an adamant adult who
Never tends to take a turn
For a better cause.
It's all a part of moving on
A continuum of events
A saga of right and wrong
Of perfections and imperfections
Of learning and unlearning
Let this saga continue.
Just remind yourself
Not to fall, but to rise
From your own fallibility
To a better version of
Yourself; and regret is
A guide in this saga of life.
For life is a stone strewn path
Where you may stumble
And fall, your errors being the
Stones, but remember to
Look for stones ahead
Come what may
Move on, for, regret
May show you the way
Regret being that eye
In the back of your head
Which tracks cautiously
The reminiscences of your past,
And the hopes for your future.
