The World Today

The World Today

The world today is

Not the one I had known.

The world today is

Not the one I grew up with.

The world today

Smells of medicines.

The antique aura of

Celebration is now

A stranger to my eyes.

The world today

Resembles a grave.

The world is fucked up,

It shamelessly vomits out

A pool of venom

Venom of war, of terror

Of pandemic, of agony;

The news around mirroring

The terrified voices of

Little people flooding

Out of their homes

And little people fleeing

To their awaiting abodes;

Little, so belittled before

Massive beings of terror,

Massive humans and

Massive viruses.

How great an irony,

How big an alarm,

Screams of human beings

In a holocaust of fear

People running to spaces

Where they could breathe;

Bombs, ammunitions,

Syringes, experiments

Plague, terror

Is what haughtily dwells

In the world today;

And nature, like that

Ever stringent teacher

With crooked eyes and

And an air of terror,

Is now in the verge of

Giving up her task of

Disciplining that naughty

Disciple, the human race;

Inert, emotionless, giving

Way for what's in store.

What a wonderful world

Was this, now it's a

Helpless shell of grief.

The recurring waves

Of turbulent emotions

Are churning in my head

And in yours too, probably

We're stuck here,

Sometimes falling out

Of our sensible stances.

Hope, nonetheless

Calms a faltering mind

It forms a bandage,

Aiding the wounds that

We nurture, for though

The world today is

Now an alien, atleast

For you and me -

The desperate beings,

Humanity has not yet

Turned a complete foe, for,

Stories of companionship

Poems of kindness

And melodies of love

Still reach our ears

Like messengers of

Uninvited hope, like

A fuming incense that

Spread the fragrance of

Trust in the world today.

Oh! trust not in the world

But in humanity that would

Melt away your terror;

For relief resides in

Human spaces like

Pearls in the depths of

The vast terrorizing sea.

Deeds of empathy in

A storm shook world

Brings delight to my

Ears, and a promise

That humanity has not

Yet met its dead end.

A small drop of kindness

You bestow, has the might

To alleviate the grief of

A raging sea, for,

This is what would thrive

This is what would heal

This is what would keep

Us going, unjumbling

The pieces of a puzzle

We're constantly

In war with.

The world today might

Go on; but for you, me

And for every being

To tread on, to see forth;

A road has to be made,

A flawless one, held together by

The heartfelt hymn of humanity!

This is a need,

This is a call

A wake-up call.
